Introduction • Who is the King of vs 36? • What is meant by the term Antichrist? αντι – Strongs No: 473– Transliterated: anti; Pronounced:an-tee’ 1. over against, opposite to, before 2. for, instead of, in place of (something) a. instead of b. for c. for that, because d. wherefore, for this cause

Three Characteristics Presented • Self Willed Dictator (vs 36) • And the king shall do according to his will; • A Proud Blasphemer (vs 36-37) • he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, • An Idolatrous Materialist (vs 38-39) • shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

Self Willed Dictator (vs 36) And the king shall do according to his will; • Assume complete political authority • Exercise this authority with no regard for those he governs • This spirit seen first in Satan • Isaiah 14:13 “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

  6. A Proud Blasphemer (vs 36-37) • he shall exalt himself, • magnify himself above every god, • shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, • Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, • nor regard any god: • for he shall magnify himself above all.

An Idolatrous Materialist (vs 38-39) • But in his estate shall he honor the God of forces: • he will promote military strength. • and a god whom his fathers knew not • Satan • shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. • And because of his political and religious power he will be able to accumulate vast wealth

The Spirit of The Antichrist • 1 John 2:18 “Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.” • The spirit of the antichrist “Replaces God” • People today already have the spirit of the antichrist. They are • Self Willed • Proud Blasphemer’s • Idolatrous Materialist • No wonder they will receive him. He is as they are.
