  2. Stilyagi was a derogatory appellation for the members of a youth subculture that existed from the late 1940s until the early 1960s in the Soviet Union.

  3. Stilyagi were primarily distinguished by their snappy or fashionable clothing, considered politically incorrect and contrary to the communist-socialist realities of the time, and fascination with modern music and fashions.

  4. Their apolitical views, neutral or negative attitudes toward Soviet morality, and their open admiration of modern, especially American, lifestyles were key characteristics that slowly developed during the 1950s.

  5. Stilyagi listen to jazz music. Among the actual dancing the boogie-woogie.

  6. In the mid 1950s, became popular with the so-called "rock on the bones" - music recording was made on the radiographs. Many people were arrested for making musical recordings.

  7. Today, the stilyagi are regarded as part of Russian historical social trends which further developed during the late Soviet era (notably the Stagnation Period) and allowed "informal" views on life, such as hippies, punks and rappers.
