  1. 6 Top Home Construction Design Trends For 2022

  2. The global pandemic has caused homeowners all over the world to reassess not just their values and what they hold dear, but the way they live, too. With much of the world forced to spend long periods of time at home in strictly reinforced lockdowns and quarantines, it’s perhaps of little surprise that the way in which our homes are designed, quickly became a hot topic among homeowners and interior designers and architects alike. Functionality and use of space quickly became new areas of focus, and construction companies began noticing a change in the way in which new homes were being built and designed, and in which existing homes were being redesigned.

  3. With more emphasis on outdoor living, too, here are six of the most popular home construction design trends for the months ahead: 1. Curvilicious! Curves are making a comeback in home design, and architects and designers are being asked to create more arched openings, barrel-vault ceilings and curved walls. This particular trend also extends to furniture and furnishings. 2. Black is back Subtle, natural colors are still popular, but black accent walls and black window frames are proving just as popular among homeowners seeking to add a dramatic contrast to neutral color schemes.

  4. 3. Bringing the outside, in With much more time having been spent inside our homes throughout the past couple of years, the desire to bring nature and its colors into our homes, has become a hot new design trend. Helped along by what is known as ‘biophilic design’, sunlight in homes is maximized along with fresh air, and plants and other natural elements are brought inside to thrive and connect us better with the great outdoors.

  5. 4. Luxurious outdoor living It wasn’t until the pandemic struck that many homeowners and families alike began to appreciate whatever outside space they had access to, such as yards, gardens, patios and balconies. Now that we all know how important having access to the great outdoors from our own homes is, more of us are focusing on making our yards and gardens luxurious spaces to spend time in. From covered rear porches for smaller homes to outdoor kitchens and fire pits, outdoors is king when it comes to home design.

  6. 5. Kitchens that aren’t white White kitchens were very much on trend a decade ago, but as time has evolved, so has our desire to have more color in our cooking and entertaining spaces. From bold primary colors on the cabinetry, to colorful kitchen appliances, white is no longer the thing of beauty it once was when it comes to kitchens.

  7. 6. Concrete homes Wood remains the most sought after construction material for US home, but concrete framed homes are becoming increasingly popular over the last decade. With the ongoing rise in lumber prices, concrete is fast becoming a more affordable option for home construction throughout the US, and with its many advantages, it’s easy to see it becoming a much more popular choice.
