  2. Occupation History • Aerospace machinists were first in demand in the 1920’s when airplanes were first mass produced • They primarily used hand tools and tolerances were big • Now the tolerances are very tight • CAD programs are often used along with CNC machines

  3. Occupation Opportunities • There are many occupational opportunities for an aerospace machinist within 50 miles of my home • Some hiring companies include: • Senior Aerospace AMT • Esterline USA • LMI Aerospace • Boeing

  4. Education Requirements • Machinists train in apprenticeship programs, informally on the job, and in vocational schools, community and technical colleges • Experience with machine tools is helpful • machinists should be mechanically inclined, have good problem-solving abilities, be able to work independently, and be able to do highly accurate work
