  1. ISO/IEC19763-3 Information Technology – Metamodel framework for Interoperability (MFI) Part 3 –Metamodel for ontology registration

  2. ISO/IEC 19763-3 • MFI Ontology registration consists of two packages • Basic Model package • register administrative information related to ontologies, independently of the languages that are used to express them • Each version of an ontology is treated as different ontology • Evolution Model package • to register information on how an ontology evolves from one version to another

  3. Basic Model • Metaclasses: • Ontology Whole: administrative information • Ontology Component: sentences • Ontology Atomic Construct: represents non-logical symbols

  4. Ontology Whole • Hierarchical relationships • Registered Ontology Whole • Reference Registered Ontology Whole • Local Registered Ontology Whole • Unregistered Ontology Whole • Registered Ontology Whole is a subclasses of Administered Item • Others • Ontology Languageis used as the reference "modelType" of Ontology Whole to indicate a language that is used to express an ontology • Registered: an ontology that is registered in a registry that conforms to MFI Ontology registration • Reference: an ontology is usable and sharable by a community of interest • Local: an ontology is specialized for defined application

  5. Ontology Component • Hierarchical relationship • Registered Ontology Component • Reference Registered Ontology Component • Local Registered Ontology Component • It is a subclasses of Administered Item

  6. Ontology Atomic Construct • Two subclasses: • Registered Ontology Atomic Construct • Reference Registered Ontology Atomic Construct • Local Registered Ontology Atomic Construct • Unregistered Ontology Atomic Construct

  7. Local Item • Local Itemis the SuperClass of Local Registered Ontology Whole, Local Registered Ontology Componentand Local Registered Ontology Atomic Construct • Authoritative Extent is used as the reference "authoritativeLevel" of Local Item to indicate whether a Local Item can consist of or use another Local Item.
