VTACH. Median time to recurrence of VT: 18.6 months with catheter ablation vs. 5.9 months with control 24-month freedom from VT: 47% vs. 29%, respectively Mean appropriate shocks per patient per year: 0.6 vs. 3.4 (p = 0.018), respectively.

  1. VTACH Median time to recurrence of VT: 18.6 months with catheter ablation vs. 5.9 months with control 24-month freedom from VT: 47% vs. 29%, respectively Mean appropriate shocks per patient per year: 0.6 vs. 3.4 (p = 0.018), respectively Trial design: Patients with a history of stable VT, prior MI, and LV dysfunction were randomized to prophylactic VT catheter ablation plus ICD (n = 54) versus ICD alone (n = 56). Mean follow-up was 22.5 months. Results (p = 0.045) 18.6 Months Conclusions 5.9 • Among patients with a history of stable VT eligible for ICD implantation, catheter ablation of VT appeared to be beneficial • Prophylactic catheter ablation reduced the time to first recurrence of VT or VF and improved freedom from VT or VF Median time to recurrence of VT Catheter ablation of VT plus ICD ICD alone Kuck KH, et al.
