    15. Main Features A Slide-in or Freestanding Range W/Induction Cooktop. The best of both worlds, induction cooktop with an electric oven below! A cooler Cooktop – A unique feature of the Induction Cooktop is whether turned ON or OFF, the cooktop surface remains cooler than standard ceramic cook tops. !Caution! – The cooking zones may appear to be cool while turned ON and after they have been turned OFF. The glass surface may be HOT from residual heat transferred from the cookware and burns may occur.

    16. Main Features Magnetic Detector – The coil sensor automatically detects whether the pan is magnetic and eliminates accidental “turn-ONs.” Pan size detection – The pan sensor detects and adapts to the pan sizes in use. Efficient – Induction cooking heats faster while using less energy. Induction power levels are quick to boil and when simmering.

    21. Induction Cookware Recommendations

    22. Pan Detection Pan detection All four Cooking Zones provide a Pan Detection message. If a Cooking Zone is turned ON and no pan is detected (the pan has been moved, the pan is not centered correctly, or the pan is not made of magnetic material), the power level will flash in the cooking zone display window (Fig. 1). If any of the above conditions are not corrected within 5 minutes, the cooking zone will automatically turn off.

    24. Basic Operation The Oven works the same as any conventional/convection oven. The Induction Control Panel has controls for both the induction cooktop and the oven.

    25. Basic Operation/Cooking Power Levels

    26. Basic Operation/Power Sharing Power Sharing The cooktop is equipped with four induction elements within two heating sections. The right-hand and left-hand Cooking Zones are powered by two independent induction inverters - one inverter for each of the two heating sections. Two Cooking Zones in a heating section share the power of one inverter. This is called Power Sharing. For example, if pans are cooking food items on both right-hand Cooking Zones, the last Power Level set will be maintained, while the first pan may experience a slight reduction in the power level setting. POWER SHARING TIPS: Remember to set the power level for the food item you wish to maintain last. Or, you may choose to maintain a constant power level for 2 food items by placing the pans on one of the Cooking Zones of the left-hand heating section and the other pan on one of the Cooking Zones of the right-hand heating section (See Fig. 23).

    27. Basic Operation/Power Sharing

    28. Basic Operation/Cooling Fan The electronic processes involved with Induction Cooking create some unusual background noises. These noises are normal and are part of the Induction Cooking process. Please note that these noises are more noticeable while cooking at the Power BOOST level. Very loud noises are not part of normal Induction Cooking.

    33. Functions & Controls

    34. LED Messages or Light Indicators Displayed by Main Control Error Codes E11 thru E77 Each pair of cooking zones may display error messages concerning the cooktop. If an error code displays, the cooktop control has detected a fault condition. Press stop to attempt to clear the display. You may also need to re-power the appliance. If error recurs, record error number and call 1-800-4-MY-HOME® for further assistance

    35. LED Messages or Light Indicators Displayed by Cooking Zone Controls The Cooking Zones have separate ON/OFF key pads. Touch the corresponding ON/OFF key pad once to activate the Cooking Zone. “—” will appear in the LED display. If the corresponding UP/DOWN arrow key pad is not touched within 10 seconds, the Power will turn off.

    36. Cooking Zone control Messages continued POWER LEVEL SETTINGS - Once active, the Cooking Zones will provide 23 Power Levels to choose from. These include Lo (Fig. 3), 1.2 (Fig. 4), 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 (Fig. 5), 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, Hi and Pb (Fig. 6).

    37. Cooking Zone control Messages continued The highest setting of Pb or “Power Boost” provides 125% power for 10 minutes (See Fig. 10). Each key pad touch (or just holding down the Power Level key pad) will scroll through all the available power levels for any Cooking Zone quickly.

    38. Cooking Zone control Messages continued RESIDUAL HEAT - Once any Cooking Zone has been used for cooking and turned OFF, and if the cooktop surface temperature on any of the Cooking Zones is still too HOT, HE (See Fig. 7) will appear in the Alpha-Numeric display for the affected Cooking Zone. The HE will continue to display if the temperature is still too HOT. CAUTION!! The Cooking Zones may appear to be cool while turned ON and after they have been turned OFF. But the glass surface may be HOT from residual heat transferred from the cookware and burns may occur if surface is touched.

    39. Fault Codes/When to Schedule Service Error Codes/Fault Codes are used for the technician to troubleshoot a problem with the product. Common error codes are PF for power failure, have customer reset clock. Other error codes can be numbered 2-77 or may be an “H” or other alpha character. If any error code(s) appears have the customer shut off power and then turn power back on to reset. If the error code(s) appear again, schedule the customer for service. Whenever a customer removes power from their cooktop they will need to re-set the clock.

    40. Problems & Solutions The following slides are given in a handout before the class. If there are any questions on the handout refer to the appropriate slide.

    41. Solutions to Common Problems 1. Pan does not heat up Display will indicate “Normal Operation” Flashing “F” on Display and pan will not heat. Pan is too small for proper pan detection and only works with low power. Use larger pan, see owner’s guide for proper pan selection. Pan is not detected. Check pan to ensure it is the right “type” of pan. See owner’s use and care guide for proper pan selection.

    42. Solutions to Common Problems Continued 2. Entire cooktop does not operate Cooktop controls are locked Set the cooktop controls to unlock the cooktop, see pg 11 in Owner’s use and care guide. Check power. Installation not complete, call for service.

    43. Solutions to Common Problems Continued 3. Cooktop turns off while cooking Automatic shut off feature Any or all zones have been in continuous use for 18 hours. Allow cooktop to cool down for 30 min. Internal heat sensor has detected high temperatures. Check vent for blockage. Fluid spilled or object lying on controls. Remove spills or object.

    44. Solutions to Common Problems Continued 4. Cooking zone does not heat food No cookware was placed on selected zone or wrong type on cookware.
