Goals • Select the best resources/materials for students and teachers • Preserve the integrity of the adoption process • Follow district and state policy during the adoption process • Provide opportunities for feedback and input on textbook selections • Support the final adoptions with training opportunities and technical assistance

Content Advisory Subcommittee • Assist in communicating the textbook adoption process to all stakeholders • Attend publisher presentations, evaluate and provide rationale of selections • Create the rubrics to be used to evaluate textbooks • Create an instructional video outlining/ modeling the use of the rubrics

Evaluation Products • Rubric • Sample textbooks available in Rm. 303 of the Buckner Building • R/LA or PreK organizes team to review materials and create the rubric • Video • Explain and model for teachers how to use the rubric to evaluate materials • Contact Sean to film video before September 17

  7. Open Adoption Period Protocol • Open Adoption: August 31-November 28 • Can meet and discuss materials with publishers • Materials limited to those listed in the contract and provided each year of the adoption • Can meet with publishers to service existing adoptions • Cannot accept gifts of any kind

  8. Closed Adoption Period Protocol • Closed Adoption: November 29 – April 1 • Can attend publisher presentations initiated by the central office • Can meet with publishers to service existing adoptions but must be coordinated and approved by the content director • Cannot receive gifts, calls, visits, mailings, etc. from publishers

  9. Next Steps • Review materials • Create rubric • Submit rubric to Wendy by September 17 • Plan and schedule filming of video • Film video with Sean by September 17 • Expect a process manual and CD of completed videos between September 22 and 24 • Sign Conflict of Interest Affidavit

Timeline • Principals submit names of teachers for the content advisory subcommittee • Publisher Orientation – August 31 • Materials delivered to campuses – Sept. 13 • Stakeholder Textbook Exhibits and Public Forums – Sept. 15, 16, 27; Oct. 25; Nov. 16 • Content advisory subcommittee Publisher Presentations – October 15
