  2. Meet Author and Illustrator: Tomek Bogacki • Tomek Bogacki was born on April 1, 1950, in Poland. When he was young he liked to sit alone in his room and write stories, read books, and draw pictures. • He says he never wears suits and ties. He likes to ride his bike and listen to music. • Tomek Bogacki has illustrated many books, and he has also made many movies. • "I draw all the time, and have for as long as I can remember."

  3. Genre –Fiction In fiction for children, animals sometimes act like people. • Look for: • Ways the a birds in the story act like people. • Ways the birds are like real birds. Story Summary:  A young bird explores the world outside his nest.
