  1. Childhood Obesity: Are parents to blame? By: Shea McMurry

  2. Why did I choose this topic? • Researched in another class and grew an interest • Was not familiar with the topic • Had questions and concerns

  3. Paper • Argument: Are parents to blame for childhood obesity? • THESIS STATEMENT HERE

  4. Product • Created a wikispace for parents and children • Offers healthy snack ideas, simple exercises, helpful links to other sites and fun family activities • http://healthyhappykids.wikispaces.com/Home

  5. Product Process • Result of an idea that was altered many times • Researched components that I wanted in my wikispace • C:\Users\User\Documents\Shea's GP\Activities.docx • Got help from friends with taking pictures and asked repeated “How does this look?” questions regarding wikispace.

  6. Impact of Product • Hoping that people who visit the wikispace will like what they see and try out some of the suggestions • Not made to be a cure or prescribed treatment for obese children. • The ideas on my wikispace are propositions to new habits and healthy lifestyle choices

  7. What I learned from the Product • You can make almost anything into a fun exercise activity • This, in turn, taught me that if you have the right mindset, you can find positives in what appears to be unpleasant situations • Planning is key: • Know what you want done • Have a game plan • Follow through

  8. Connection • Paper is dedicated to pinning down the cause of overweight and obese children. • Regardless of the cause, there needs to be some way to help

  9. Reflection • Above all, this project taught me the consequences of not managing time wisely. • I learned that you need to find that motivation inside you and just get the work done and do it well • These skills will be crucial in higher level courses with demanding assignments
