TDI & TCDD Functional Specification • Original version dates back from 16/05/2012 (BG) • http://proj-lti.web.cern.ch/proj-lti/LTIcoordination/RelatedMeetings/LIBD/Meetings%202012/20121002/TDI%20FS_2012_v3_AG_VB.docx • Discussed in LIBD meeting of 2/10/2012 • Since then: • Update of beam parameters (LIU – BCMS) • See previous presentation • Initial TDI material and FLUKA studies • Discussions with parties involved • Impedance • Vacuum • Some optics • ALICE ZDC • Propose complete re-write of the FS taking into account the above information • As the protection of the D1 and triplet depends on the combination of the TDI and TCDD, it is proposed to add the TCDD to the same FS • FS to be sent around for comments by the end of this year TDI & TCDD Functional Specification

Input Needed • Beam parameters at 450 GeV and 7 TeV • From LIU take values given in previous presentation • Official HL-LHC beam parameter list. • If LIU assumes BCMS parameters, they should have their equivalent in HL-LHC beam parameters • Request made to HL-LHC Parameter and Layout committee (Oliver Bruning, Markus Zerlauth ) • Optics • Crossing angles and separation at IP2 and IP8. • Twiss parameters • Failure modes: see prev. presentation • Quench and damage levels: see prev. presentation • Beam Impedance • Collect all the distributed information • Discuss the additional constraint for multi module TDI • Interlocking • Include the new BETS interlocking on the TDI and the interferometric position measurement TDI & TCDD Functional Specification
