  2. Participants will get to know Finland’s • Nature • Culture • Wilderness traditions

  3. While enjoying nature, the activities will be focused on • Leadership • Responsibility • Guiding a group

  4. Organization of the week • Opening activities at North Karelia College • Travel to Kukkarolampi cabin, the week’s base camp • A two day hike in the woods, including two overnights • Final program will be held at NKC

  5. Leadership Each participant will have a turn to be the day’s leader, which means… • Each participant will make decisions affecting the group • Each participant is responsible for the group’s activities

  6. Canoeing and Fishing • Safety on the water • Rescue techniques and practice • Filleting and cooking fish

  7. Hiking in Nature • Orienteering • Water crossings • Knowledge of plants and animals

  8. Night time in the forest • In tents • In lean-tos

  9. Wilderness Cooking Learning how to use • Berries • Fish

  10. Wilderness Skills • Building a fire • Knife use and safety • Axe use and safety • Compass and map skills
