Facts for August 30 August 2005 On the 30th August back in 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast of Mexico and flooded the city of New Orleans. 10 years on and some parts of the city are still trying to recover. 31 August 1997 Diana Princess of Wales died in a car crash in Paris. She had been married to Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and they had 2 sons – Prince William and Prince Harry.

  8. Well Done to …………. Amelie, Eylee, Josie, Ailsa and Sian for competing in the Orkney Athletics Club Competition. They all did various activities such as cricket ball, long jump, 100m run, 200m run and 800m run.

  9. Eve who competed in a Show Jumping competition with the Pony Club and won two rosettes.

  10. Blair for competing in the Orkney Library Reading Challenge

  11. Well Done to …………. Maya who did the Dounby Lifeboat Guild 5k Run in a speedy 42minutes and 55 seconds
