The ScienceVideoBank • This was used to achieve the following: • Reinforce microwaves for cooking / communication • Generate the real need for “an experiment” • Point out that the whole thing was a marketing hoax created by a headset manufacturer (HSW) • Discuss how it could be faked (HSW) • Discuss the reliability of news sources (e.g. preparation for the “science in the news” task)

Something which cannot be done in class Short, sharp, and thought provoking Humorous and/or attention grabbing Connects with the real world and shows the application of science But what of the many clips which simply show a teacher teaching or repeating a common class demo or practical?
