  1. Unity Application Generator How Can I… Import control modules (Instrument list) from PID Into the UAG

  2. I am using an engineering software to develop my PIDs. I want to export the details of the devices (motors, valves, field instruments etc) from the PID and import into UAG. Issue

  3. UAG supports import of data in two formats: XML and text file. User can generate a file from engineering drawing tool in XML or txt format. UAG supports import of Instrument list in this format: Note: User has to possibility of generating instrument list or generating the Control modules direct into pre-defined physical models How to do.. Basic explanation

  4. This figure explains the procedure: How to do.. Basic explanation Import Generates Text file Engineering Software Generates UAG OR Import Generates XML File Style sheet has to be used to make files Compatible between two Application

  5. We are assuming this is what has been exported from engineering drawing software. In this excel sheet, one can see the name of device, type and description. UAG supports import in this format: How to do..Outside UAG Name of library device Block to be used For the device from The library Keyword Name of the device Type of the device Description of the device

  6. This means the format of the file exported from the engineering drawing tool has to be adapted with the format of the UAG importable file. User can generate using style sheet in XML format from engineering drawing tool or exporting the details in excel (text file) and adapt the format using some macros. In this example, we have used a macro “Macro2” present in this file: How to do.. Outside UAG

  7. MACRO 2 should be executed. How to do.. Outside UAG • The excel file will be transformed to this format: with all the required information: Name of library Description of the device Block to be used For the device from The library Keyword Name of the device Type of the device

  8. The file will be saved as text file: MyExport.txt under D:\UAG Applications. IMPORTANT points: If there is no “D:\UAG Applications” folder available , then please create one or edit the macro 2 to key in the right path The macro will generate the file “Myexport.txt” automatically. There use don’t have to do anything other than execute the macro. During closing the excel file, the excel will ask if the user wants to save the file. Please do not save the file as it is in text format. How to do.. Outside UAG

  9. The text file then can be imported into the UAG, using FILEIMPORT option: How to do.. In UAG

  10. All the devices will be imported into the UAG The device can be seen by clicking on the INSTRUMENT LIST How to do.. In UAG

  11. User can drag and drop the control modules into the desired physical level How to do.. In UAG

  12. Conclusion • User can import information from engineering drawing tools in the UAG using XML or Text files. • User can import the information either into INSTRUMENT LIST of the UAG or directly into the desired physical model level. • Please use following file for importing the PIDs into UAG using Device and Process library. Thanksfor your attention!
