  1. MICE ScheduleCM35 Alan Grant, STFC

  2. Schedule Overview • Magnetic Field Mitigation is not included in this schedule • Further scheduling required once decision is taken • Aim is to install Step IV before long ISIS shutdown Aug 2014 • Delivery of Step V & VI driven by resources and budget restrictions in UK and USA • Commissioning run for each step - no detail as yet • Aim to field map upstream & downstream spectrometers solenoids in series with approx 1 week time lag • Schedule includes Public Holidays – RAL closure

  3. MICE INSTALLATION SCHEDULE – SUMMARY 1 Step IV commissioning ends 5mths before RFCC delivery to prepare for step V installation Long Shutdown 05/08/14 to 29/01/15

  4. MICE INSTALLATION SCHEDULE – SUMMARY 2 EMR initial tests, Survey target network & Air con - complete AFC#1 training - ongoing Upstream Solenoid mapping prior to Christmas break Downstream Solenoid mapping after Christmas break • Mapping sequence was discussed with CERN group in December

  5. Shipping 1 Amplifier #1. Commissioning snags & resource issues. Delivery date may slip. RF distribution component quotes received for systems 1 & 2. Delivery approx 12 weeks. Don Summers ready to place orders. Dummy loads already ordered.

  6. Shipping 2 Spectrometer Solenoids shipped together delivery late August 2013. AFC module #2 delivery delayed, resource issues at Tesla. RFCC’s module#1 delivery Jan 2017 RFCC’s module#2 delivery Jan 2018 Diffuser complete currently at Oxford ready to be shipped when required. Magnet Deliveries at RAL

  7. Pre Installation EMR initial tests, complete • AFC commissioning going well, achieved required current in solenoid mode. • Flip mode commissioning now in progress.

  9. Step IV Installation - 1 Need to agree and re-schedule EMR final test. Important to complete installation of AFC & mapping in step IV position before Delivery of Spectrometer Solenoids in late August to free up space. Some slack but need to watch AFC parked position TBA Absorber installation work to be carried out in parked position.

  10. Step IV Installation - 2 Upstream SS installation directly followed by downstream SS installation. Upstream SS is pumped and cooled down whilst downstream SS is being installed. Training of upstream SS only happens when downstream SS is installed. Upstream SS is parked after mapping to allow tracker installation then downstream SS is mapped. US team required from Sept thru Jan 14 for installation. Magnet training Step IV installation complete 19/5/14

  11. Step IV - Magnet Measurement & Magnet Movements

  12. Step V Installation Delivery of Step V & VI driven by resources and budget restrictions in UK and USA Run step IV to July 16 then prepare for installation of step V RFCC’s module#1 delivery Jan 2017 Step V installation complete 26/6/17

  13. Step VI Installation Step VI installation complete 17/9/18

  14. Hydrogen System Installation System A installed. System B & C procurement & installed shifted back to suit budget constraints & MICE schedule

  15. Milestones - 1 Milestones allow us to track slippage. AFC testing in R9 has slipped but not serious at this moment. AFC module 2 likely to slip. Not serious. Tesla effort directed on completion of module 1 Concern over RF amplifier delivery. Still commissioning and likely to slip. Required to meet TIARA deadline which is to demonstrate RF working system in hall by end Sept 13. Magnet deliveries at RAL

  16. Milestones - 2 Magnet deliveries at RAL MICE steps:- Installation completion

  17. Summary • Magnetic Field Mitigation is not included in this schedule • Further scheduling required once decision is taken • Need to complete AFC installation & mapping in step IV position before Spectrometer Solenoids arrive • Need to meet TIARA milestone of September 2013 demonstrating RF working system in MICE Hall • No detailed commissioning schedule for each step as yet • Schedule includes Public Holidays – RAL closure
