  2. Goals - Introduction to Psychology expose students to the major theoretical perspectives within psychology expose students to the methods of psychology expose students to empirical literature in psychology expose students to careers and career paths in psychology

Value of Exposing Students to Empirical Literature in Psychology Subsequent coursework in the major requires that students: -read this type of literature -identify important points in the reading -examine the methodology -summarize numerous studies/Lit Reviews -critically evaluate empirical findings

  4. Student Thinking/Articulation Often students are unable to articulate the ideas/connections that get them from Point A to Point B

  5. The Article Summary Assignment Part 1: Read the study, Arousal, Mood and the Mozart Effect and read the summary of it. Highlight information in the study that appears in the summary. Part 2: Read the study, Effects of September 11th Terrorism Stress on Estimated Time Duration. Summarize this study using the Part 1 exercise as a model.

  6. Usefulness of this assignment Summarizing the study encourages organizational skills clear articulation of thought logical thinking efficient use of written language critical evaluation
