  3. Special Events • Sunday-Making Change for School Improvement • Monday-Beating the Odds • Tuesday-Utilizing Learning Styles & Cognitive Research in the Urban Classroom; Evidence to Excellence & Study Groups

Special Events • Wednesday-Meeting the Needs of Diverse Student Learners; Administrators - Educating Tomorrow’s Leaders & A Sneak Peek into Emerging Learning Technologies • Thursday-Effective Classroom Strategies: Preventing Discipline Problems & Say No to Bullying! Implementing an Effective Bullying Prevention Program

  5. Special Events • Theatre show could not be scheduled on Monday evening due to collective bargaining for actors/actresses

  6. Academy Visitors • Deputy Secretary, Office of Postsecondary and Higher Education • State System of Higher Education Officials

  7. Graduate Credit • Must meet ALL Academy requirements • Must complete content baseline and pass final assessment with at least a score of four (4) • Must complete and submit all required forms and surveys--Teaching and Learning Improvement Plans and Assessment Instruments

  8. Graduate Credit Continued • Must attend ALL class sessions and scheduled evening activities • Must submit team Final Reflection Activity forms • Must complete and file an approved team Teaching and Learning Improvement Plan

  9. Professional Development Outcomes • Two graduate credits awarded by California University of Pennsylvania • Two graduate credits qualify to fulfill the continuing education requirements of Act 48 • No cost to participants for graduate credits • Must meet or exceed all established requirements to receive two graduate credits

  10. Friday Activities • Complete Academy Final Content Assessment • Recognition Ceremonies and Awarding of Certificates • Concluding Activities

  11. Program Improvements • Specially-Designed Strand for Administrators • Team planning scheduled for one room • Team Final Reflection Activity Sheet • Mentor(s) identified in acceptance letter

  12. Program ImprovementsContinued • Team Teaching and Learning Improvement Plan is web-based • Samples of Teaching and Learning Improvement Plans are available from team mentor • Evaluation instruments are to be completed on-line

  13. Team Mentors Mentor responsibilities: • To assist designated team(s) at ALL planning times and to answer questions about the Academy and its program • To provide advice, guidance and direction as team(s) develop Teaching and Learning Improvement Plan • To request the assistance of a content-subject specialist, if needed by team(s)

  14. Team Mentors Continued Mentor responsibilities: • To provide team(s) with password for typing plan on-line • To approve, sign and receive handwritten Teaching and Learning Improvement Plan as it is typed on-line • To submit handwritten plan to the Academy leadership

  15. Team Arrangements • Educators who registered without a team have been grouped with other educators to facilitate the development of Teaching and Learning Improvement Plans • Educators from the same school district, but different buildings have been grouped together to facilitate the development of Teaching and Learning Improvement Plans
