  1. Learnington’sPowerpoint Path By The Citizens of Learnington

  2. Georgian Superstars • We’ve been learning about important people in Georgia’s history • We’ve learned their lives, contributions and character traits • The leaders we studied are: Tomochichi, Mary Musgrove, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Jackie Robinson, Jimmy Carter, Sequoyah, & James Oglethorpe

  3. Our Historical Superstar • We started this project because we have been learning about informational text • This was a good way to combine our study of leadersand our writing genre • We picked our superstar’s name out of a bucket • Our class knew some of our superstars but we didn’t know others

  4. Gathering Resources • Once we had our topic, we began gathering resources for our research • We went to the library and looked for a biography to check out • We also went on the computer and used CVL to find an article about our superstar • We also looked up our superstar in the encyclopedia • Now we had resources to use for our fact gathering!

  5. RESEARCH! (Pre-Writing) • Now we needed to start writing down our facts • We set up our fact files with categories such as Work Life, Childhood, Place and Date of Birth, Education, etc • We read our articles and took notes on facts • We read our biographies and took notes on facts • We even went on the CVL to look for more facts if we needed to

  6. Drafting • Drafting for this project was different than any other drafting we’ve done this year! • We got to do our writing on the computer using Microsoft PowerPoint! • We first learned how to use the program • Then, we set up our 10 slides • Finally, we started typing our facts onto our slides • This stage took a LOOOOONNNGG time!

  7. Revising/Editing • Once we had enough facts (about 3) on each slide, we moved to the revising and editing stages • We worked to read over our slides to make sure they made sense • We checked for spelling, punctuation, and capitalization • We worked together with ‘peer editors’ and with teachers through these stages

  8. Publishing • Finally, we were able to have fun with making our presentations look fancy! • We imported pictures of our superstars • We learned how to use transitions, animations and designs • We learned how to watch a ‘slide show’ to see what it will look like

  9. Showtime! • After all that hard work, we have been rehearsing for you and are excited to share our presentations ! • Thank you for coming today!
