Come backstage for a brief history of how it all began for My Chemical Romance. My Chemical Romance is an American Rock band formed in 2001 that was originally from New Jersey. The band was signed to Reprise Records in 2003 and their songs range from alternative rock, pop, punk, post-hardcore. The band has been together since its creation in 2001 to now! The band has sold many records but its one popular record includes The Black Parade which was released on September 11, 2006. Like many, the band creator Gerard Way was affected by September 11, 2001 and it influenced him to make a band. This record coming out on the same day ½ a decade later showed that he still carried that influence on. Another popular record would be their very first album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. This album was what got them many underground followers but not quite mainstream. I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love included the song “Skylines and Turnstiles”, which had been in response to the 9/11 attacks. The band has produced many albums filled with songs that have deeper meanings and cause others to think about what the world is today. But that’s not to say that they do not have songs for fun!

Biography of Gerard Way Gerard Way was born in Summit, New Jersey on April 9, 1977 to Donna Lee and Donald Way. Gerard Way, now 34-years-old, is the lead vocalist in the band My Chemical Romance but he is also a comic book writer for The Umbrella Academy. Gerard Way was influenced by his grandmother ,Elena Lee Rush, who taught him how to sing, paint, and perform since he was a young boy. Throughout his life he has had to overcome many events of trauma including being held at gunpoint but it was while he was working for Cartoon Network and saw the 9/11 attacks that he decided to pursue a career that would make a difference to others. Thus the band My Chemical Romance was created.

My #1 favorite song by this band is… 1.Famous Last Words The song ‘Famous Last Words’ is from the album ‘The Black Parade’ which is also my favorite album. I love this song because it shows that no matter what you won’t give in and that those last words you say will be infamous to those who tried to bring you. That is my interpretation of the songs lyrics but I also love the guitar and the drums in this song. The tune they beat out is really cool and leaves me thinking not only about the lyrics but the background music as well. ‘I am not afraid to keep on livingI am not afraid to walk this world alone Honey if you stay, I'll be forgivenNothing you can say can stop me going home’
