According to a recent survey report titled “Nepal Commercial Poultry Survey 2014-15” by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Nepal has an annual production of 114,058 tons, with an egg production of 1.20 billion per year. Similarly, a single Nepali eats an average of 4.1 kg per hen and 44 eggs annually. Talking only about birds, there are 9.8 million birds for poultry, among which 20% are improved breeds while the rest are the indigenous groups. Likewise, there are 3.3 million laying birds, and a single bird lays an average of 80 eggs annually. With that, there are about 265 million eggs manually in the country.
