Lesson Seven: Working With the Recent Results Tabs

Learn how to view, change selection criteria, and manipulate patient results in various formats on the Recent Results tab. Find and note abnormal results easily using the Navigator and Results Display. Control what information is presented in the flowsheet and explore different views such as Table, Group, and List. Graph numeric results and view details and order information. Don't forget to refresh for the most current information.

  1. Lesson Seven: Working With the Recent Results Tabs • At the end of this lesson you will be able to: • View results • Change the selection criteria for results to view • Manipulate patient results in three formats • Locate results and note abnormal results

  2. Recent Results Tab Overview The Recent Results Flowsheet is divided into two major sections: • The Navigator • The Results Display Navigator Results Display

  3. The Navigator • The Navigator consists of a list of categories that serve as an electronic index. • By selecting a category, the display focuses to it contents, which are displayed as values in the results display on the right.

  4. Results Display • The Results Display provides a two-dimensional view of events. • Tests, procedures and documentation against a time continuum.

  5. Controlling the View • You can control what information is presented in the flowsheet by selecting the drop-down box next to the Flowsheet option. • The Quick View automatically defaults and displays combined results within a 72 hour time frame. Results displayed include 48 hours in the past and 24 hours in the future. • Click on the Date/Time bar to change the date range to view additional combined data.

  6. Changing the View • There are several views that can be selected to change the manner in which the flowsheet displays the same information in a different format. • This feature aids in viewing and trending data in an alternate method. • The views that can be selected from will be discussed on the following screens.

  7. Table View • The Table View is the standard flowsheet viewing method. • The table view displays the event descriptions and dates respectively as the x and y axis of the results display.

  8. Group View • Click on Group to review a group of results (such as pathology reports) together. • Then select the desired category from the Navigator.

  9. List View The List View can be used to easily see all the results that were charted during a specific time together.

  10. Changing the Date and Time Range • The flowsheet uses the Date/Time bar to adjust the time period to review. • Right click on the date/time bar to select other options.

FlowSheet Display Options If you prefer, you can “turn off” units of display on the flowsheet. • From the menu, click Options and select • properties from the drop-down menu. • From the Flowsheet Properties window • select Display and under Additional • information, uncheck Units of measure. • Click OK to save for this session only or • Save to save for future sessions. The Flowsheet Seeker • The Flowsheet Seeker provides a high level overview of the flowsheet and where results are located. • Critical and high/low results can be quickly located. • Click on the seeker icon located on the toolbar to open the Seeker window. • Click and drag the black rectangle within the seeker window to adjust the view.

  13. Graphing Results • Only numeric results can be graphed. • Results that are eligible to be graphed will display with a check mark box. • To graph the result enter a check mark in the box.

  14. Click the Graph Icon to Graph Results Graphscan be combined by clicking on the Combinebutton.

  15. Result Legend From the Options menu select ResultLegend to display an explanation of the different result indicators.

  17. Viewing Details and Order Information You can view Details, comments and Order Information by right clicking on the result and making the desired selection.

  18. View Details • The View Details window displays different tabs based on the result details • Result – Displays the result history, which includes the result, the range for the result and the date/time of the result • Specimen – Contains the date the specimen was collected • Comments – Displays any comments associated with the results. • Action List - Lists a history of actions taken

  19. Lab and Radiology Tabs • You can restrict your view of results information by clicking on: • Lab – Displays only lab results information • Radiology – Displays only radiology results information

  20. Don’t Forget! Be sure to click on the Refresh button to refresh the view and make sure you have access to the most current information.

Lesson Seven Review • Results can be viewed from the Orders Tab. • The types of results displayed can be filtered. • Results can be displayed in three formats. • The Table view is the standard viewing method. • To make sure you are viewing the most current information, be sure to click on the Refresh button on the tool bar.
