  2. About the Teacher My name is Cassandra Vetrano and this is my sixth year teaching at Rosenauer. I have my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and I absolutely love teaching 3rd grade. I live in Ocean Township with my husband and we are very excited to be expecting twin girls this January! My plan will be to take my maternity leave after the winter break.

  5. Recess Weather permitting, we will have outside recess everyday. Students may leave a sweatshirt or sweater in our closet. ***Our room tends to get cold at times, so I highly suggest sending in a sweatshirt to wear in class.

  6. Classroom Rules 1. Raise your hand and wait to be called on. 2. Listen attentively to the speaker. 3. Be silent in the hallway. 4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. 5. Respect yourself, others, and the teacher. 6. Always try your BEST!

  7. Behavior Management Thank you for signing and returning my behavior plan.   12. Fast Facts *We will be practicing our Fast Facts every day in our communicators. Our goal is to master our addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts in third grade. *Timed Quiz every Friday on weekly facts. *Practice, Practice, and more Practice! *Xtra Math online program- see flyer *Math Games on class page (Symbaloo) *Flash cards from dollar store

  14. Science • Forces and Interactions • Ecosystems • Life Cycle and Traits • Weather and Climate * Students will be assessed by their Science notebooks and final projects. S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)

  15. Homework Monday– Thursday* Read over the weekend! Literacy: 20- 30 minutes of reading book of choice and record on reading log. Answer 3 questions on log each week. Logs due every Monday with parent signature. Students who complete all parts, will receive a ticket for a chance to win a prize. *Reader’s Responses will be introduced once a week. Math: Practice worksheet (highlighted numbers only) and review fast facts. *PLEASE SIGN PLANNERS EVERY NIGHT AND READING LOGS AT THE END OF EACH WEEK.

  16. Grading/ Assessments 4 Point Scale 4- Exceeds Grade Level Standards 3- *Meets Grade Level Standards* 2- Partially Meets Grade Level Standards 1- Below Grade Level Standards *Grades will be based on tests, quizzes, class work, homework, class projects, and participation.

  17. RockStar of the Week! Each week we will learn more about our fellow classmates. The Rockstar will receive a bag with instructions the week prior to their assigned week. Please return all items in the Rock Star bag on the Monday of your child’s assigned week.

  18. Birthdays Please drop off any treats with the receptionist the morning of your child’s birthday. They will be shared during lunch. Please keep in mind that we do have peanut AND tree nut allergies in our room, so please stay “nut free” so everyone can enjoy the treats. *Birthday invitations cannot be handed out in class. *An email list can be provided. Make sure to check off yes on the sign in sheet today!

  19. Communication Our District’s program, Going Green, is in full swing. We will be using the Electronic Backpack and Rosenauer Web Site to communicate. Please check our Class Page weekly as most of our news will be posted there. My Email: cvetrano@jacksonsd.org

  20. Field Trip Thanks to our very generous P.T.A. we will be visiting the Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant, NJ. Please sign up as a chaperone if available. Estimated Date: December 7th

  21. Volunteers If you are able to contribute to our classroom celebrations, please add your name next to any item on our sign up sheets. Please take a record in the back of the classroom if you are able to donate any supplies to our room. THANK YOU! 
