  1. WELCOME VISITORS – You are our Honored Guests Members - You are Greatly Appreciated. Gospel Meeting July 31st – August 3rd Greg Dismuke - Speaker

  2. Prayer – The Blessing of Talking to God.

  3. Talking to God • Do you talk to God? • When do You talk to God? • How Often do you talk to God? • What Do you talk to God About?

  4. I. Jesus Talked to his Father ALL the time. • A. Jesus saw such a need to Talk to his Father All the Time while here on Earth. • “who in the days of flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and he was heard because of his Godly fear.” Hebrews 5:7

  5. Jesus Talked to his Father ALL the time while here on the Earth • “So He himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.” Luke 5:16 • “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark 1:35

  6. II. Disciples Wanted To Be Taught • His disciples saw this example in the Life of Christ • Do we allow others to see us pray? • Are we embarrassed to pray in the sight of others? • Have we taught to pray lately? • John the Baptist, had taught his Disciples to pray.

  7. Talking to God • Jesus’ disciples wanted to learn how to Pray because of the importance they could see that it held in the lives of others • “And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” LUKE 11:1

  8. THE MODEL PRAYER It happened, that when he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples." He said to them, "When you pray, say, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on Earth, as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And Do not us not into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.” Luke 11:1-4 (Matthew 6:5-13)

  9. III. Prayer Can Be Such a Blessing? • Certainly if the early disciples saw the need to pray we too can see the need and want to do as they did. WHY? • Prayer can be such a blessing to us in our daily living when we remember Who we Praying To; “OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN” MATTHEW 6:9 – Luke 11: 2

  10. Prayer can be such a blessing to us in our daily living when we PRAY FOR STRENGHT & BOLDNESS in living our Christian life . Living the TRUE life of a Christian can be a CHALLENGEN when faced by those who do not want us to follow the Way of God. This is true, especially when the name of Jesus is forbidden to spoken (recent events involving Veterans in Texas) ACTS 4:23 – 31 - note – Verses 24 & 31

  11. Prayer can be such a blessing to us in our daily living when we PRAY FOR FORGIVENESS for others and of our own SINS - DAILY Our own forgiveness depends on this. Matthew 6:12 & Luke 11:4 One Might ask – “How many Times do I Forgive?”Matthew 18 : 21 & 22 70 x 7 ( 490)Is that where it ends? Pray for the Forgiveness of others I JOHN 1:7-9

  12. Prayer can be such a blessing to us in our daily living when we Cast all of our Anxieties on the Lord I PETER 5:6-7 When we learn to PRAY about EVERYTHINGinstead of Worrying the blessing we receive is the PEACE OF GOD; “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.” Philippians 4:6-7

  13. Prayer can be such a blessing to us in our daily living when we DARE TO PRAY FOR GREAT THINGS. Elijah was a man just like us and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain and it did not rain on the land for 3.5 years. He prayed again and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced it’s crops. JAMES 5:17-18 There is nothing that God can not do if what we ask is according to His Will.

  14. Prayer can be such a blessing to us in our daily living when we realize how POWERFUL it is; “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another that you may be healed. The effectual, event Prayer of a righteous man avails much.”JAMES 5:16 PRAYER AVAILS MUCH - Did You Hear That?

  15. Therefore our Prayer life should be without end and continually giving thanks in all circumstances and events. “Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus”I Thessalonians 5:17 – 18 If we are still looking for the Blessings of God maybe we need to be Talking to God More? Prayer – IS - The Blessing of TALKING to God !!!!
