CUSD Vision & Mission Statement “We strive for communication, collaboration, and excellence among educators within our district.” • We, The Curriculum and Assessment Team of ChinleUnified School District, are committed to providing the necessary framework to support teacher and student accountability towards academic achievement, utilizing data driven decision making to establish instructional goals, curriculum alignment, and planning. The team is comprised of highly motivated and dedicated teachers within our district. Created by CAT on 2/16/2012

Agreement • I am committed to providing the necessary framework to support teacher and student accountability towards academic achievement. • I am confident in utilizing data driven decision making to establish goals, curriculum alignment, and planning. • I am willing to be a highly motivated team member dedicated to providing support to my colleagues and school. • I have the confidence and the skills needed to communicate results back to my school site colleagues. • Lastly, I agree to the confidentiality needed to be a part of this team when it pertains to review of Galileo assessments as it will break the validity of results in reaching academic achievement.

  4. Transition to Common Core • KDG – 2 years • 1st & 2nd , 8th Grades – 1 year • 3rd-7th Grades – Begin Fall 2013 • 9th-12th Grades – Begin Fall 2013 • PARCC Assessment will take place Spring 2015

Previous Curriculum Documents • Standards • Kid Friendly Learning Objective • Level of Thinking • Resources Assessment • Pre & Post ( Summative) • Q1, Q2, Q3 (quarterly aligned to curriculum & safety Nets) • Mid-Year (last minute) • 7-8: started out as quarterly but 2nd benchmark switched back to summatives

Summer 2012 Curriculum Work • Curriculum maps • K-3,8 Reading Curriculum maps have been aligned to Common Core standards as well as Galileo assessments • 4-7 Reading Curriculum maps have a cover sheet of CC crosswalk to old standards • K-2 Math Curriculum Maps have been aligned to Common Core Standards as well as Galileo assessments • 4-6 Math Curriculum maps have a cover sheet of CC crosswalk to old standards • Galileo Training took place on June 7, 28-29th to discuss transitioning to Common Core, Benchmark Planner Process, Completing Assessment Planner • Scope and Sequence of Drafts for grades 3-6 for Math • Pacing Guides have been made in Math for grades 1-6

WHY a New Curriculum???? • Common Core is all about RIGOR and integration • Start preparing our students for the PARCC assessment (college & career ready) • Curriculum document that can help ALL teachers out, even new teachers • Everyone is on the same page • ACCOUNTABILITY • CHANGE • Technology/ELP Standards
