  3. Getting Started First Steps • Overview Presentation & Consultation (with Department & Faculty) • Getting Started Questions • Establish structure,“ingredients” & media need for portfolios • Faculty prepare students for use (adapt PPT, & share examples) • Trainings scheduled (student sign-up & tool training early in semester)

  4. Sustaining Elements • Gateway/Capstone “anchoring” within curriculum • ePortfolios are required, Faculty unified on process & use • Signature Assignments defined • Key word “tags” (learning objectives) agreed upon at dept. level

  5. Incorporating & Sustaining • Faculty incorporate working on ePortfolios within course context (class held in lab, peer reviews, timely uploading & grading) • Faculty Lead identified & in active touch with Academic Technology • Faculty receive their own portfolios & training • Planning for accreditation use from start in place

  6. Lessons Learned • Set clear, realistic goals & deadlines • Portfolios taken seriously at Dept. level • Avoid “scrapbook” last-minute, final semester completion • Digital Literacy (formal/informal web-identity, fear of technology addressed for both faculty & students) • Faculty concerns about employer “buy-in”, & emerging use of digital CV’s • Durable archiving of ePortfolios (have a plan!)
