  3. Make it Fun • Just as we encourage kids to read for pleasure over the summer, programming should be fun too! Legos! Drawing with ice leftover from lunch Playing in the kitchen Lunch at the Library

  4. Highlight Your Resources • Summer Lunch is the perfect time to make use of all the wonderful things you have in your library that the public may not be aware of. From puppets and board games to iPads and AR googles, show off your resources! Lunch at the Library

  5. STEAM Kits The Exploration & Creativity Department created STEAM Kits that were distributed to Summer Lunch branches. These provided lunch locations with hands-on programming that could easily be managed by lunch staff including teen volunteers. Lunch at the Library

  6. Teen Engagement • Our teens not only help us serve lunch, they serve up wonderful programs too! A little learning A little STEAM A fidget spinner craft Food Handler Certificates Lunch at the Library

  7. Community Partners Table tents from Child360 (formerly LAUP) Resources that can enhance the environment of your library lunch room LAPD Read-Along Officers from LAPD shared stories after children finished their lunch. Lunch at the Library

  8. Community Engagement • The adult librarian at the Vernon Branch created a series for parents of Summer Lunch kids called Community Resource Fridays. Lunch at the Library
