  2. What to bring to school Every day Homework book Reading book, reading record Water – plain, in a bottle Snack Keep in school PE kit – shorts, t-shirt, trainers, socks, deodorant joggers, spare jumper

  3. Important dates SATs week 12th – 16th May 2014 Residential School Trip exact dates awaiting confirmation – likely to be first week in July.

  4. Homework Pupils should expect to spend 30-45 minutes each day on homework. Homework books to be in school every day. Children told what their homework is and when it is due in. They will write down their homework tasks in their books. Homework books will be taken in on a Friday and returned on Monday.

  5. Homework Deadlines are given, but pupils are encouraged to complete work the day it is set to avoid it building up or time not being spent learning spellings/tables etc. It is important to establish these habits during Year 6 in preparation for secondary school.

  6. Homework This is a suggested timetable to help pace homework.

  7. Feedback to Homework Homework books collected in on Fridays. Reading records collected in on Wednesdays. Some homework activities will be used as part of a lesson and feedback given during this time. Feedback to other tasks will be through weekly tests or teacher marking.

This term Topic – Passport to the world (art, D&T, geography, ICT, music) Literacy focus – improving writing in a variety of different genres; modern fiction; autobiography; understanding different fiction genres Maths – properties of shape; number; mental calculation strategies; data handling; problem solving Science – green plants; life cycles; habitats and food chains; adaptation; micro-organisms; dissolving; separating different mixtures RE – creation story; harvest; Jewish beliefs and practices; advent

  9. Interventions/boosters Small group maths interventions – Paul Pattison Maths boosters - Mrs Heath (Monday/Thursday pm) Before school/after school and lunchtime boosters and interventions will be announced as the term goes along.

  10. Home learning – every little helps! Homework Teaching organisation skills – weekly organiser Mathletics / Bug Club BBC websites Library Time spent helping with learning Taking responsibility
