  1. Mighty Lessons from the Widow’s Mites Mark 12:41-44 Luke 21:1-4

  2. Introduction • Mighty lessons in this Bible story • Lord sees all we do—but we learn even more from this account • Jesus was impressed with this woman. We should be also

  3. Impressive this woman gave • Would we ask someone today who only had 20 cents to give it? • Think of the reasoning she could have used • She gave anyway. But why?

  4. Impressive she gave so much • She put in more than the rich • We learn that giving involves more than the gift itself

  5. Impressive that she gave all • Large sums of money probably came into temple treasury that day • She didn’t give just 10%--but all she had 1. Earlier, Jesus addressed greatness 2. Peter, James, John left all for Jesus 3. Levi, a tax collector, left all for Jesus 4. Leaving all a condition of discipleship

  6. Conclusions… • What does this story teach you? • God expects us to use all we have for him • Challenged to quit looking at life dually • God owns all—including our very lives • Is this a sermon on church contributions? • Yes, but more—about giving ourselves • Money no substitute for total commitment
