  2. English Revolution • Picture – must be colored – must be related to the English Revolution (worth 2 points – 1 if not colored ) • Date – 1603-1689 (worth 1 point)

  3. English Revolution – people(circle on the grade sheet if they are there) • Oliver Cromwell – Leader of parliament's forces against the king. (1 pt) • Charles I – King of England, wouldn’t give parliament power, lost war and was executed. (1 pt) • James II – King of England, was Catholic – gave posts to Catholics. Was kicked out of power by parliament and William and Mary. (1 pt) • William and Mary – Took over for James II. Became King and Queen of England (2 pts for both – 1 pt if only one is listed) • If they only have names, not roles (1 pt for whole section)

English Revolution • Cause: (1 pt) • Parliament wants more power, they want some say in their government. • Effect • England gets a Constitutional Monarchy (1 pt) • AND • Sign the Declaration of the Rights of Man • Parliament gets more power • People get more rights • Rule as joint rulers • Charles I gets beheaded • (must have 2 of these for 1 pt)

American Revolution – people(circle on the grade sheet if they are there) • George Washington – General of the American troops during the American Revolution (1 pt) • George III – King of England during American Revolution, Made lots of taxes on the Americans. (1 pt) • John Locke – Enlightenment thinker who influenced the Declaration of Independence. First said “life, liberty, and property.” (1 pt) • Thomas Jefferson – wrote the Declaration of Independence (1 pt) • Colonists – English citizens living in the America’s. Fought against English for independence. (1 pt) • If they only have names, not roles (1 pt for whole section)

American Revolution • Cause: (1 pt) • Mercantilism – can only buy and sell with their mother country. • Taxation without representation – colonists didn’t like that taxes were being put upon them without anyone representing them in parliament. (Must have something to this effect to get the point) • Effect: • America becomes a representative democracy (1 pt) • AND • America becomes independent • Constitution is written • Bill of Right • (must have 2 for 1 pt)

  10. French Revolution • Picture – must be colored – must be related to the French Revolution (worth 2 points – 1 if not colored ) • Date – 1789-1799 or 1789 - 1804(worth 1 point)

French Revolution – people(circle on the grade sheet if they are there) • Maximillian de Robespierre – Helped bring about the reign of terror – later beheaded (1 pt) • Louis XVI – King of France. Did not listen to the Estates General, was executed (1 pt) • Marie Antoinette – Queen of France, spent too much money, made France poor, blamed for debt, guillotined (1 pt) • Napoleon Bonaparte – French Commander, took over after revolution and kept many of the reforms (1 pt) • 3rd Estate – Middle and lower class, were angry over the lack of voice in government and the high taxes. (1 pt) • If they only have names, not roles (1 pt for whole section)

  12. French Revolution • Cause: (1 pt) • The 3rd estate was angry because they had no voice in government. 1st and 2nd estate could out vote them. They paid the majority of the taxes. • American Revolution – people saw that it was possible – put France into debt from helping them. • Effects: • Franceremains a monarchy. (1 pt) • AND • Surfdom& slavery ended. • End privilege by birth • They got some of the rights that they wanted but they didn’t get all of the rights they fought for. Not a very successful revolution • (Need 2 for 1 pt)

Latin-AmericanRevolution – people(circle on the grade sheet if they are there) • Jose de San Marti – Argentine general who helped gain independence (1 pt) • Simon Bolivar – helped win independence for Columbia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. (1 pt) • Peninsular-people born in Europe that made up the highest class of society. (1 pt) • Creoles-people born in America – these are the people that revolted(1 pt) • If they only have names, not roles (1 pt for whole section)

Latin-AmericanRevolution – people(circle on the grade sheet if they are there) • One other person with what they did (1 pt) • Toussaint-L’Ouverture – helped lead Haiti to independence • Prince Pedro – accepted a new constitution for Brazil. • TupacAmaru – helped the Incan people get independence • Miguel Hidalgo – helped Mexico gain independence. • Slaves – fought for independence to gain freedom (Revolution in Haiti totally made up of former slaves) • Indians – fought for Independence under TupacAmaru & in Mexico

Latin-American Revolution • Cause: (1 pt) • Mercantilism – can only buy and sell with their mother country. • Creoles don’t want to be ruled by a country across the ocean – don’t feel like they are Spanish or Portuguese think of themselves as belonging to new country.. • American and French revolution – showed that it was possible. • Effect: (2 pts) • Several countries were formed – separate/independent countries. • Different types of governments

  20. Add up the points – use a calculator if necessary. • 30 seconds of crazy – • Take the flipbook and the grade sheet back to the person that it belongs to • Look over your grade. If you feel that it is not correct (check the math) – write in the section that you think you deserve more points why you think you deserve more points. • 2 piles.
