  2. Step 1 • Pass the Life Scout Board of Review • Resets the Position of Responsibility clock. • Must hold a position of responsibility for 6 months. • The only positions of responsibility that count are the ones listed on the most current revision of the Eagle Scout Application (#517-728) and the current publication of the Guide to Advancement (#33088).

  3. Step 2 • Finish all Eagle required Merit Badges and enough electives to equal 21 total. • Be aware of either or situations. • You CAN work on project and Merit Badges at the same time.

  4. Step 3 • Plan and execute an Eagle Scout Leadership project. • Can be worked on while finishing merit badges. • Follow instructions in workbook carefully. • Key points: • Approval Signatures • Diary • Document • Leadership • Latest version of workbook required

  5. Step 4 • Send out Reference Letters • Key points: • Must be sent to Scoutmaster or Eagle Coach • Should match up to reference list on Application • Don’t send out too early! • Send out with Request Letter, SASE with tracking number/name, addressed to SM. • Each letter MUST be in a sealed envelope.

  6. Step 5 • Scoutmaster’s Conference • Key points: • Should not be at a Troop Meeting. • Last chance to push back at problems. • Review Life Statement, Project workbook, Scout’s personal history and Future plans. • Should be 30 minutes or more.

  7. Step 6 • Assemble the paperwork. • Need all reference letters • Fill out the Eagle Scout Application. Check for all signatures and dates. • Life Statement. • Completed Project Workbook. • Send to Council with sealed reference letters after making copies of Application and workbook.

  8. Step 7 • Council approves packet and returns it to the Scoutmaster. • Scoutmaster notifies Scout, District Eagle Coordinator and troop committee that the Scout is ready for a Board of Review. District Coordinator sets date.

  9. Step 8 • The Board of Review • At least three but not more than 6 members • Must include a District or Council Advancement Representative • Closed door environment • Should not be at a Troop meeting. • Parents and or relatives are not allowed on BOR or in closed door session. • The Scout and or his family has no input in the selection of the Board members. • Full uniform as per 8.0.0.4 2013 Guide to Advancement

Step 9 • Board of Review is successful • Send Eagle Application, Advancement form to Council. • Council forwards to National in Texas • After National approval, Packet is returned to Scoutmaster. • Only after National approval is Scout an Eagle Scout. This is confirmed when Council receives the Eagle Scout certificate bearing the Board of Review date.

  11. Step 10 • Eagle Court of Honor • Eagle Scout is announced as soon as possible. • Suggest separate Eagle Court of Honor for Scout • Can be more than 1 scout • Check the web for plans • What’s required
