IMPACT OF AO-BIOTICS® EQE ON EGG PRODUCTION AND SURVIVABILITY OF LAYING HENS IN FRANCE C. Ocasio-Vega AO-Biotics EQE had a positive impact on egg production and survivability in this on-farm validational trial. DOSE USED 50 g/ton SUMMARY Supplementation of AO-Biotics EQE, a postbiotic derived from Aspergillus oryzae, improved flock lifespane and productivity of laying hens evaluated for 9 weeks, beginning at 31 weeks of age. VALUE The inclusion of AO-Biotics EQE in the nutritional program for laying hens contributes to improving egg production and extending the productive lifespan of the flock. PROTOCOL Location • Commercial laying hen operation in France. Duration • The impact of EQE was evaluated for 9 weeks using a 3-phase protocol. • From 22 to 30 weeks of age, animals were fed a basal, unsupplemented diet. • From 31 to 39 weeks of age, animals were fed the same diet as above with 50 g/ton EQE. • From 40 to 45 weeks of age, animals were returned to the basal, unsupplemented diet.
PROTOCOL (CONTINUED) Animals • Approximately 100,000 Lohman LSL (white) laying hens housed in a single barn. Trial Design • An “OFF-ON-OFF” design was used. • Hens were evaulated without supplementation, with supplementation, and then without supplementation once again. Treatments • Basal diet with no postbiotic supplementation. • Treatment diet with postbiotic added at a dose of 50 g AO-Biotics EQE per ton of feed. Data Collection • Laying hen production traits 1. Egg rate 2. Feed intake 3. FCR 4. Mortality • Egg quality traits 1. Egg weight and mass 2. Total number of eggs produced RESULTS Compared to both OFF phases, AO-Biotics EQE improved hen performance (Figure 1, Tables 1-2). • Improved feed intake by 4.4% • Improved egg mass by 4.4% • Improved FCR by 7.6% • Improved egg production by 3.1% • Increased number of eggs sold by 54,000

RESULTS (CONTINUED) Table 1. Performance and egg quality of hens fed a diet supplemented with AO-Biotics EQE at 50 g/ton of feed from 31 to 39 weeks of age1.
RESULTS (CONTINUED) Table 2. Linear regression equations for the productive performance and egg quality of hens fed a diet supplemented with AO-Biotics EQE from 31 to 39 weeks of age. During the ON phase when EQE was supplemented, variability in egg production was reduced by 46% and variability in egg mass was reduced by 48% when compared to the OFF phases. As a note, normal physiological changes occuring during the laying cycle of the various phases may contribute to these results.
