  2. Josephus Antiquities 8.44-47 The manner of the cure was this: He put a ring that had a root of one of those sorts mentioned by Solomon to the nostrils of the demoniac, after which he drew out the demon through his nostrils; and when the man fell down immediately, he abjured him to return into him no more, making still mention of Solomon, and reciting the incantations which he composed.

  3. Matthew 22.41-46 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them this question: ‘What do you think of the Messiah? Whose son is he?’ They said to him, ‘The son of David.’ He said to them, ‘How is it then that David by the Spirit calls him Lord, saying, “The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet’”? If David thus calls him Lord, how can he be his son?’ No one was able to give him an answer, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.

  4. Matthew 22.41-46 ‘How is it then that Davidin the spirit when inspired to write Psalm 110 calls him Lord, saying, “The LORD [God] said to my Lord, (which must be the Messiah, since only the Messiah could) ‘Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet’”? If David thus calls him Lord, how can he be his son? Since Fathers, being senior do not generally use such terms of address to their sons’.
