  1. Adjust of A9 eHRPD Indicators and A11 eHRPD Indicators Xin Zhong Huawei Technologies xinzhong@huawei.com Zhiming Li Huawei Technologies lizhiming@huawei.com Recommendation: Review and Adopt

  2. Background • A.S0022-0 v2.0 (addendum) is targeted to bug-fix and alignment with 3GPP R8/R9 • Misalignment is a kind of bug in A.S0022 • The contribution’s intention is to clean up some misalignments in A.S0022

  3. Misalignment 1 – Request of S103 address • In section 3.2.2.1 E-UTRAN to eHRPD Handoff – A8 Connected • In page 3-8 step 3, there is a statement that It (A9-Update-A8) requests the data forwarding address for the HSGW and a GRE key • In page 3-8 step 4, there is a statement that It (A11-Registration Request) requests the data forwarding address for the HSGW and a GRE key • In section 3.2.2.2 E-UTRAN to eHRPD Handoff – A8 Disconnected • In page 3-10 step 4, there is a statement that It (A11-Registration Request) requests the data forwarding address for the HSGW and a GRE key • However there is no such indication in A9 and A11 messages • It’s justified to have such a indication in both A9 and A11 • The allocation of data forwarding address shall happen during Handover Preparation phase. It’s not wise for the HSGW to allocate resource for receipt of forward data during the Pre-registration phase because the mobile may stay in LTE for a long time before execute handover, in some case may not execute handover for ever • eAN is aware of handover preparation while ePCF and HSGW are not aware of handover preparation. Therefore eAN knows the right time to trigger allocation of data forwarding address • So there shall be such an indicator in both A9 and A11 messages

  4. Misalignment 2 – Handoff Execution • Handoff Execution indicator is included in eHRPD A9 Indicators while it is not included in A11 eHRPD Indicators • It’s not clear what action of the ePCF shall be triggered when such an indication is received. For example to set some indication bit in A11 message.

  5. Suggestion • Change Handoff Execution indicator to Data Forward Request indicator in eHRPD A9 indicators • Add Request Data Forwarding Address Indicator into eHRPD Indicators in A11 message
