  2. School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape • Facebook in APL 2009-10 • Developed Summer 2009 as part of our Keep Warm Strategy to encourage conversion rates • Facebook Group Name: Architecture, Planning and Landscape Newbies 2009 • Designed to allow new students to interact before arrival , make friends, share info and ask questions • Uptake was high over the summer period but dropped off after arrival . Students mainly introduced themselves and announced their chosen course and halls

  3. School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape • Facebook in APL 2010-11 • Facebook Group Title: Architecture, Planning and Landscape Newbies 2010 • Uptake was similar to that of the previous year • Students were found to be creating their own course group pages for use during their studies

  4. School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape • Facebook in APL 2011-12 • APL group was converted to an APL page • In addition to the main APL page, student led groups were formed • Whilst the APL page is good as an external facing source of news and promotion of School activities, it is not used as a socialising network • Students, both current and future, have interacted well on the student ran group sites, uptake was high over the summer and continues to be active

  5. School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape APL Facebook Page/Groups 2011-12 APL Facebook Page APL Architecture Student Group APL Planning Student Group APL PGT Freshers Group

  6. School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape • DPD lead Social Media Activitiy • Suzanne Speak – MSc Planning for Developing Countries • A small programme group site for the DPD and current and future students to interact • Georgia Giannopoulou – MA Urban Design Blog • Student ran blog, forms part of their assessment and acts as a promotional tool for the course to potential students. The idea is that it will become a course survival guide for future students and a source of contact for alumni
