  1. Hurricanes By Thomas Clarkson

  2. Where does your disaster/event typically happen? • Hurricanes usually happen on the south eastern corner of the U.S.A. Hurricanes also happen in the tropics. Hurricanes happen most of the time in the summer.

  3. Hurricane Frequency My disaster happens in the U.S.A. at least 5 times every 3 years. Hurricane season is in the summer, June, July, August, and September.

  4. Involved with Hurricanes The ocean and the atmosphere.

  5. What usually happens • What usually happens if it is on a beach the sand gets pushed back. Trees break and limbs fall. Trees get uprooted, yards get destroyed.

  6. Most Extreme Conditions • The most extreme thing that could happen is multiple cities get destroyed and houses get flooded and are drifted away in the flood.

  7. Scale/Rating This is a scale on hurricanes . If you rate hurricanes this is what you would rate it on, categories. The most destructive is a category 5 hurricane, the least destructive is a category 1 hurricane.

  8. Key Terms • Words Definition • Troposphere lowest and densest layer of Earth's atmosphere • Landfall reaching land after traveling through water or air • Latitude distance north or south of the equator, measured in degrees • Convection Current movement of a fluid (liquid or gas) caused when denser portions of the fluid move downward because of gravitational attraction, pushing less dense portions up and away • Meteorologist scientist who studies the atmosphere, especially with regard to climate and weather

  9. After Effects • What happens after the hurricane is no better than the actual hurricane. The power lines are like broken sticks, therefor there is no electricity. Everything is flooded and wet. Tens of people are dead. Roads are floodedand trees are destroyed. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2010/11/06/nr.hurricance.tomas.haiti.cnn
