Faculty Focus Newsletter • Purpose: To keep faculty informed about key academic policies and college wide issues, and provide faculty with information and resources that could be used in teaching • Timeframe: Distributed to all full time and adjunct faculty five times per year • Results: Positive feedback from faculty indicates they find the publication informative * Prompted by upcoming NEASC review

  3. Adjunct Orientation Module • Purpose: To educate adjunct faculty on key academic policies and college wide issues • Timeframe: Proposed implementation fall 2012 • Modality: • On-line module, survey, quiz • Includes certificate of completion • * Prompted by upcoming NEASC review

  4. Faculty Evaluation Process • Purpose: • To assemble data from Student Rating of Instruction (SRI) to establish minimum standards of performance • To create response plans which include steps to improve teaching • Additional benefit: Provides CCRI the opportunity to identify key areas of instruction that would benefit from professional development • Timeframe: • Partial start fall 2011/ spring 2012 • Complete participation for fall 2012 • * Prompted by upcoming NEASC review

Distance Education • Purpose: Provide quality control and support for faculty and students in order to ensure high quality Distance Education. • Timeframe: Spring / Summer/ Fall 2012 • Action Item: Progress toward adopting quality controls for all distance education courses • Progress to date: • Completed revised DE mission statement • Completed draft distance education proposed DE vision & goals • Articulated steps for adopting quality controls for DE courses • Joint exploration of DE with other RI public institutions • * Prompted by upcoming NEASC review

Academic Affairs Goals • Re-invigorate the APR process and link it with Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes • Develop expanded Curriculum Maps for all programs: • Include General Education outcomes in each program • Include methods of assessment • Include Timeline for assessment • CREATE A PROCESS FOR FACULTY TO REPORT HOW THEY ARE USING THE ASSESSMENT RESULTS TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ LEARNING!

  7. Academic Affairs Goals • Strengthen Faculty and Student Support Systems to ensure high quality Distance Education options • Revamp the College’s approach to Developmental Education • Collect and utilize data from faculty evaluation process to improve teaching/learning process • Provide series of workshops for Deans and Department Chairs to enhance College leadership
