  2. Introductions • Mr. Heinold • 20years teaching 5th grade, all at LT • I have coached over 20 years in Mahomet. JH Track, JH Wrestling, JH Softball, HS Softball • I have 4 wonderful kids (19, 16, 10, 8) and an outstanding wife. She works here at Lincoln Trail. 

  3. The Purpose of Education • To maximize the opportunities for students to reach their potential. To be the best that they can be. • To provide and develop the fundamental skills necessary to succeed in life.

  4. Primary Goals • Promote a positive self-image • Promote independence • Promote self-learning

  5. Responsibility • Complete all work on time • Respect diversity • Be rested, interested, and willing to learn • Do their best

  6. Study Skills • Note taking • Study guides • Daily class work • Homework • SQ3R

  7. Grading Scale • 100-90% A • 89-80% B • 79-70% C • 69-60% D • 59% or below F • Mostassignments can be corrected. I will take the corrected grade and average with the first grade.

  8. Assignment Books • We will fill out Assignment Book everyday before afternoon recess. We will fill out together and then I will post them to my calendar on my teacher website. Please take a few minutes to check assignments books.

  9. Take Home Folders • They are orange vinyl folders that has a copy of the class schedule on the front. All papers that comes home will be in their orange folder. This will include graded work and information passed out at school.

  10. Field Trips • A list of field trips with fees will be coming home soon. The list will include where we will be going and the cost of each field trip. • We will also be sending a blue field trip permission slip. Please sign and return with your child.

  12. LEAP – Tier 2 Intervention • LEAP is our intervention program where students will receive a 30 minute tier 2 intervention to strengthen their reading and/or math skills. Students will be taking Reading and Math (MAPS) assessments three times a year to determine who will need tier 2 interventions and who will not. Those that do not need a tier 2 intervention will be placed in an enrichment class during the LEAP time.

  16. Media Time • Once a month for five consecutive days • Off for three weeks • Replaces Library and Computer times • Technology based

  17. School Behavior Program • Three School Rules • Be Safe • Be Respectful • Be Responsible

  18. Grade Reports • You will receive a grade report every four weeks. It will either be a mid-quarter report or an end of the quarter report
