  2. Magnesium The name of the element is Magnesium and the symbol is Mg. The atomic number for magnesium is 12 and the atomic mass is 24. Magnesium is also a metal.

  3. History Magnesium was first found when a farmer tried to give his cows water. They refused to drink it and later it was found that is was Magnesium in it. It was later discovered by Sir Humphrey Davy in 1755.

  4. The Appearance Magnesium is a silvery-white, soft metal which loses its glow when it is exposed to air.

  5. Use No.1 One of the uses of Magnesium is in Truck parts and automobiles. It is usually combined with aluminium. It is used in automobiles because it is strong and light.

  6. Uses No. 2 Magnesium is used in camera, laptops and mobile phones. It is used in these electronics because it is very light and has good electric and mechanical properties.

  7. Uses No. 3 The third use for magnesium is in flashes of cameras and flares. It is used in flashes and flares because it makes a bright light when heated and is ideal for flares and flashes.
