  1. Presenting Lifelong Faith Formation Across the Generations

  2. A New Faith Formation Process for Immaculate Heart of Mary

  3. For the past year a team of parishioners, including Father Benoit, hasattended Diocesan workshops on Generations of Faith

  4. The team is excited by the difference Generations of Faith has made in over 700 parishes across the country.

  5. The team is inspired by the spiritual and community building possibilities it offers our parish.

  6. Starting September 2004 IHM and 15 other parishes in our Diocese will begin the Generations of Faith process.

  7. Generations of Faith involves the whole parish, young and old, in learning our faith.

  8. Generations of Faith will gradually replace our current Religious Education Program (CCD).

  9. (On Catechesis in Our Time, Apostolic Exhortation of Pope John Paul II).“The world, in which the young are called to live and to give witness to the faith…is governed by adults. …for catechesis to be effective, it must be permanent, and …proves no less necessary for adults.”

  11. WHY Generations of Faith?

  12. WHY? So that…All of us, no matter what age, can continue learning and growing in faith and spirituality… • Sharing with each other . • Joyfully celebrating with each other. • And modeling a lived faith, for our children.

  13. WHY? So that… Our children (grandchildren) and youth will WANT to…. ...learn about our faith …love our faith …and live it every day.

  15. A new Approach to Faith Formation WHAT? • For all ages (not just children) • Relevant & Fun • Church life centered… • …And nurtures family faith at home.

  17. WHO? Children Youth Adults EVERYONE!

  19. Faith Learning Days

  20. At Faith Learning Days… HOW? • We all come together to learn about our Catholic Faith while preparing for an up-coming Church event (like Advent, Pentecost, etc…)

  21. At Faith Learning Days… HOW? • All ages gather • To eat together • Learn together • …Share Faith together AND…

  22. …we receive Family Kits to keep that faith sharing going on at home. HOW? there’s more… But wait

  23. …When we celebrate the actual event, we do it with… HOW? • deeper understanding • renewed joy & appreciation • and meaning for our lives.

  25. WHEN? Beginning Fall 2004 Generations of Faith is our Parish Faith Formation Process

  26. For the 2004-2005 Church Year: WHEN? 4 Faith Learning Days are scheduled.

  27. Faith Learning Days will be offered on:Saturdays: 9 a.m.- noon or Sundays: 4 - 7p.m. (You choose the day you will attend) WHEN?

  28. Faith Learning Days WHEN? For all parishioners In 2004 - 2005 November 13 or 14 – Preparation for Advent March 12 or 13 – Preparation for the Triduum April 30 or May 1 – Preparation for Pentecost October 15 or 16 (2005) – Preparation for All Saints

  29. For families with children & youth: WHEN? In 2004 – 2005 our Religious Education class schedule is reduced to make room for these Faith Learning Days.
