  1. Can Online Pujas Be Helpful? The second wave of the pandemic is increasingly looking like it is here to stay. And with that, once again, temples have closed down, pilgrimages have come to grinding halt and religious tourism has yet again taken a hit. With activities being held indoors and marriages being cut down in terms of size and festivities, the online space is set for a boom. It is hence no surprise that Online Poojas and homams are too in the picking, With both private organisations like dharmshalas and religious sites such as temples offering online services, the options are many to pick. With that being the case, it is important to make an informed choice while picking the right decision. Online Puja Booking needs to be done after taking a lot of points in to consideration, such as the correct puja, the procedure, the temple where it is to be held and multiple other factors. For instance, for a kaal sarp dosha puja, it is believed that those who have killed an animal or sinned in their previous birth will have this dosha present in their birth or natal chart. A puja in order to revoke or negate the energies caused by this particular dosha is best done on Nag Panchami day in order to appease the snake. According to ancient scriptures, the Trimbakeshwar temple in Maharashtra’s Nashik district is among the best shrines to perform this puja, followed by the Somnath temple in Gujarat. Considered to be one among the 12 Jyotirlingas, the puja done in this shrine is also said to be very powerful. After deciding on the shrine based on discussions with priests or someone who has knowledge on the matter, it is essential to check if the concerned temple does offer online services or not. In most cases, big shrines like these do offer online pujas with live streaming facilities as well in some, enabling a 24 hour virtual darshan feed. Alternatively, private pujaris and priests too offer virtual services wherein they will perform the puja on your behalf in accordance with the necessary processes and practices. In terms of the processes involved, kaal sarp dosha puja requires an entire set of pujas and mantras to be chanted by priests in the case of a maha puja. Apart from that, the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is recommended to be chanted at least 108 times everyday in order to negate the effects of the dosha. Once the practices and rituals are understood, the interested party is required to book the puja online based on their preferences and dates, following discussions with the pandit involved. Once the payment is done, in most cases a link is generated which enables the individual to view the puja virtually while it is performed in their name at the concerned shrine. Following the puja, the prasad or neivedhyam is offered to the Lord. Ideally, this offering would be donated or given to those performing the puja.

  2. However, in their physical absence, it is couriered by the shrine or private agencies to the individual’s place of residence. Thus, with the presence of online religious services, even performing pujas and prayers have become a lot easier and accessible without putting oneself at risk during the pandemic.
