  1. YEMEN IS KILLING ITS PEOPLE, HERES HOW - Shamayun Miah

  2. The crisis is the result of a horrific six-year military conflict. To say thousands of civilians have been killed is an understatement. This is causing immense misery for Yemenis. With a collapsing economy and few job opportunities, many individuals are unable to purchase basic supplies, putting them at risk of starvation, gender-based violence, exploitation, and early marriage for women

  3. As regards early marriage and molestation of its women, Yemen has been ranked 154 of 155 according to the Global Gender Gap Report 2021 for inequality between women and men. Agreeing with this report, there has been a jump in reported cases of molestation and pregnancies. Reports from Amnesty International suggest Yemen's ongoing conflict has resulted in the closure of schools and hospitals, leaving thousands of children vulnerable to persistent violence and a dysfunctional healthcare system.

  4. Yemen is susceptible to environmental disasters. According to ReliefWeb, between April and August 2020, heavy rains and flooding wrecked thousands of communities in Yemen inflicting deaths and injuries, destroying infrastructure and livelihoods, and augmenting the spread of lethal diseases.

  5. The major diseases and health concerns plaguing Yemen are projected to persist beyond 2021 and into 2022, wreaking havoc on their physical and emotional well-being across the country. Continuous violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law is the norm in Yemen and will continue to be violated as long as there is no political stance in the country. This is the recipe for the disaster of the people of Yemen. Yemen is killing its people; The World needs to intervene
