  1. Demat of Physical Share Certificate: Streamlining the Share Trading Process In the past, owning and trading shares in the stock market meant holding physical share certificates, which were documents representing ownership of shares in a company. However, with the advancement of technology and the need for a more efficient and secure system, the concept of dematerialization of shares was introduced. Demat of Physical Share Certificate refer to the process of converting physical share certificates into electronic form, known as dematerialization. This transformation has revolutionized the share trading process, making it more convenient, secure, and hassle-free. The Need for Dematerialization Before the introduction of demat accounts, the process of buying, selling, and transferring physical share certificates involved various complexities and risks. Physical certificates were susceptible to damage, loss, and theft, which could lead to disputes and delays in trading. Additionally, transferring physical certificates from one person to another involved lengthy paperwork and verification procedures. To address these challenges and streamline the share trading process, demat accounts were introduced. Understanding Demat Accounts A demat account is similar to a bank account but holds shares and securities in electronic form. It acts as a safe repository for all the shares that an investor holds. When physical share certificates are converted into electronic form, they are credited to the investor’s demat account, and the ownership is reflected digitally. This eliminates the need for physical handling of share certificates, reducing the risk of loss or damage. Benefits of Demat of Physical Share Certificates
