Review: ISSCC 2011 Attendee Benefits • Continued reduction in conference expenses which translated to attendee benefits • Reduction in early registration rates for second year in a row: • $695 (2009) → $640 (2010) → $595 (2011) • Adding value to attendees • New Industrial Demo Session • New Plenary Round Table • Coffee breaks and ice cream social • Color handouts for tutorials, short courses and forums • Continue hotel rebate ($100 rebate if staying at the Marriott Marquis for 3 or more nights) • 18 SSCS partial travel awards for students to attend ISSCC

  5. 2011 Industrial Demo Session: Huge Success ! Out of 18 candidate papers, 13 papers were invited Congratulations to Hoi-Jun Yoo and Bill Bidermann

  6. ISSCC 2012 Budget • More optimization of travel, reduction in contractors, cost reduction for publications and papers process (more visibility into the finances) • Goal: Reduce Expenses, add attendee benefits and reduce registration fees

Plans for ISSCC 2012 • Further reduce registration fees (to $550)… third year in a row • Move back 4 plenary presentations (keep 35 minutes each) - In 2013, we will go back to a plenary Panel (60th anniversary) • End the DAC/ISSCC design contest and collaboration with DAC (driven by lack of enthusiasm from DAC) • New event: Academic Demo Session (ADS) – building on the success of IDS • Expand the Industry Demo Session - IDS and ADS can accommodate 16 demos each (max 20) • Color handout for IDS and ADS (1 page per demo) - similar to the forums • New model for SRP – short presentation and poster session (pre-publication issues cleared by with Meetings Committee) • Committee rotation: 4-5 years (bring back members no earlier than 5 years)

Changes for ISSCC 2012 • ISSCC Gift for 2012 – umbrella • SSCS Gift for ISSCC 2012 – Starbucks card • Bundle SSCS membership – SSCS members who attend ISSCC 2011 will get one free year of SSCS membership (for 2013) – membership committee • Videos of demo sessions to be posted on the website • Regional committee DO NOT review papers in regional committee meetings • October meeting shortened to 2 days for most members! • Major new initiative to streamline the press process : Alice Wang (Press coordinator), Ken Smith (Press liaison) • Eliminate abstract version of the advance program • Modified session overview to be included in the digest • Explore webcast a the plenary session for ISSCC 2012???
