Life is in the blood… • Lev 17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood & I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for yours souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” • Atonement – Heb=covering • Heb 9:22 “…all things are cleansed w/blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness”

  3. Sacrificial blood… • Man sinned & tried to cover (atone) himself w/a fig leaf • God provided the first sacrifice to “cover” (most likely a lamb) • Nothing man fashions can ever cover our sin • God provided the final sacrifice to “cover & cleanse” • Only the pure blood of a spotless Lamb (Jesus) could completely “cover” (atone) & cleanse

  4. Benefits of the blood of Jesus 1. Forgiveness Eph 1:7 “In Him we have redemption thru His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” 2. Cleansing Heb:9:14 “…how much more will the blood of Christ…cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God” and 1 Jn 1:7 “..and the blood of Jesus cleanses us for all sin”

  5. More benefits… • 3. Eternal life Jn 6:54 “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day” • 4. Redemption Rev 5:9 “And they sang a new song…For you were slain and have redeemed us to God by Your blood

  6. More benefits… • 5. Sanctification (Set apart) Heb 13:12 “Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate” • 6. Provides Access Heb 10:19 “Therefore brethren having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus and Eph 2:13 “…once far off but now are brought near”

The power to speak Heb 12:24 “…to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel”
