AEROSPACE EDUCATION NEW TEXTBOOKS Aerospace: The Journey of Flight • Phase III/IV of cadet program • Written for the 9th to 10th grade level • 27 chapters, 640 pages • Section Examples: History of Air Power, Principles of Flight and Navigation, Aerospace Community, Air Environment, Rockets, Space • More in-depth look at a variety of aerospace subjects • Gives senior cadets the depth of knowledge necessary to be mentors and instructors for cadets in phases I and II • Lots of high school/college interest—national standards-based; teachers’ guide Where Imagination Takes Flight

AE EXCELLENCE PROGRAM • Similar programs for both schools and CAP units • School program runs from Nov-Apr • CAP program runs from Jan-Jun • Includes exciting hands-on activity books Grade appropriate: K-5 and 6-12 • National Standards-based educational activities • Do at least one activity per month and earn beautiful wooden plaque and student/cadet certificates • New full-color materials starting Fall 2001 Where Imagination Takes Flight

  16. AE GRANTS • Aerospace Education Foundation, $250 max • Part of the Air Force Association • Since 1996, the AEF has provided over $58,000 to CAP • New program just for CAP classroom teachers • Sept 14 application deadline • Forms available on the WWW Where Imagination Takes Flight
