  3. About Us Indraprasth eye tech eye clinic has been in Noida since 2001 . It has been involved in patient care from more than 15 years in the field of ophthalmology and has been committed to providing expert medical and surgical eye care to all. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  4. Cataract The eye functions much like a camera. Light rays enter the eye, passing through the cornea, the aqueous humor , and then the pupil and into the lens. The lens bends the light rays to focus objects onto the retina lining the back of the eye. From there, the image passes through the retinal cells, into the optic nerve, and finally to the brain which processes the images. Cataracts occur when there is a buildup of protein in the lens that makes it cloudy. This prevents light from passing clearly through the lens, causing some loss of vision. An IOL focuses light that comes into your eye through the cornea and pupil onto the retina. Most IOLs are made of a flexible, foldable material . Determine which lens option is right for you? Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  5. Before surgery your eyes are measured to determine your IOL prescription and compare options to decide which IOL type is best for you. • The type of IOL implanted will affect how you see when not wearingglasses. Glasses may still be needed by some people for some activities. • If you have astigmatism, we will discuss toric IOLs and related treatment options with you. • In certain cases, special premium lOLs may reduce your need for glasses. 6. Diabetes & Eye How can diabetes affect eye? Diabetes can affect the eyes and vision in a number of ways. It may lead to frequent fluctuations in vision, cataract in young age, decreased vision due to involvement of optic nerve, temporary paralysis of the muscles controlling the movement of eyes and thus double vision. The most significant complication of diabetes in eye is diabetic retinopathy and its complications. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  7. What is diabetic retinopathy? Retina is the inner most layer of the eye that is sensitive to light. Diabetes affects the small vessels of the retina in the eye.  When blood vessels in the retina are damaged, they can leak fluid or bleed. This causes the retina to swell and form deposits called exudates. This is an early form of diabetic retinopathy and may not lead to any decrease in vision, but it can lead to other more serious forms of retinopathy that affect the vision.  The fluid and exudates collects in the macula ,thus decreasing the vision. Sometimes there may be a macular edema without any loss of vision. Therefore it is important to have periodic checkup to detect and treat these conditions at an early stage. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  8. In advanced stages of diabetic retinopathy, the blood supply of retina is compromised. In response to this, new fragile blood vessels grow on the surface of the retina (neovascularization). These new vessels can bleed easily. These may lead to serious vision problems if they bleed into the vitreous ,which is known as vitreous hemorrhage. This can cause blurring of the vision. The new blood vessels and the bleed into the vitreous can also cause scar tissue to develop, which can pull the retina away from the back of the eye. This is known as retinal detachment, and can lead to blindness if untreated. Periodic retina checkups and timely treatment are of utmost importance in all such cases. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  9. Can something be done to prevent diabetic retinopathy? • There is no treatment that can prevent diabetic retinopathy altogether. Persons with any form of diabetes may develop diabetic retinopathy. But it has been proven that a good control of diabetes can delay and slow down the rate of progress of diabetic retinopathy and its complications. Besides a good control of blood sugar, one must exercise regularly, keep the blood pressure under control, avoid smoking, and avoid obesity. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  10. You might not know that you are having diabetic retinopathy, as there are no symptoms in the earlier stages of the disease. Therefore it is essential to have periodic evaluation of your eye by an ophthalmologist . How frequently should I get my eye examined? If you have diabetes, you should get a yearly examination with your ophthalmologist. Once you develop diabetic retinopathy, then your ophthalmologist will advise you if you need some investigations, treatment or just need to follow up. In these cases the frequency of follow up visits is decided on basis of the severity of the disease. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  11. What is the treatment for diabetic retinopathy? The treatment of diabetic retinopathy is decided on the basis of the stage of the disease. In the very initial stages, it just requires periodic follow up to look for progression of disease. The ophthalmologist decides when to see a patient next depending upon the severity of changes in the retina. Later when the disease is more advanced he/she may decide to treat it with one or more of the following options: Laser Treatment : There are well-defined criteria for laser therapy. Laser therapy is done when there is significant maculopathy, or when there are significant new blood vessels in the retina or iris.  Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  12. Anti-VEGF agents : These agents are being used in some selective cases alone or in addition to laser treatment or surgery. Surgery : Vitrectomy surgery and other additional procedures may be required to manage the complications of diabetic retinopathy, like vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment, severe macular edema, etc Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  13. High Myopia People who have minus number glasses more than 6 diopter in power are said to have high or pathologic myopia. The eyeball in such cases is enlarged leading to thinned out coats of the eyeball so the central area may be very weak (chorioretinal degeneration) leading to poor vision. The retina in these eyes is weak in the periphery also and usually has some degeneration, atrophic holes, or even retinal tears. These retinal holes or tears may sometimes lead to a serious condition of retinal detachment, leading to sudden loss of vision, and may require major surgery .So a regular retinal checkup is very essential in these patients to look for the holes and to treat them with laser .Also, whenever the patient with high number develops symptoms like flashes or floaters, he/she must immediately get the eyes examined to look for retinal hole, tear or retinal detachment. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  14. High myopia are also predisposed to develop abnormal new vessels in the central area (macula) called Choroidal Neovascular Membrane (CNVM), which leads to sudden marked fall in vision due to hemorrhage or fluid leakage. The treatment modalities being tried out for myopic CNVM are anti-VEGF agents like Lucentis, Avastin and Macugen, photodynamic therapy (PDT) . Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  15. What is LASIK? A very thin (about 0.16 mm) and precise flap is raised by a special instrument known as microkeratome. The result is a corneal flap attached at one edge, the hinge. The surgeon folds the flap to expose the inner stromal layer of the cornea. The excimer laser treatment is applied on this stromal bed to remodel it. After this the flap is repositioned to its original position .There is only mild discomfort after the procedure.LASIK is a method of re-shaping the external surface of the eye [the cornea] to correct low, moderate and high degrees of nearsightedness, astigmatism and far-sightedness. There is no bandage which is applied and vision gets corrected instantly. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  16. Lasik & Refractive LASIK or Lasik (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis), commonly referred to as laser eye surgery or laser vision correction Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  17. What are the complications of LASIK? LASIK is a very safe procedure with a majority of patients achieving very good results. However, since it is a surgical procedure, it does carry some chances of complications as well, which would be discussed with you before the surgery. The overall rate of significant complications in LASIK is only of the order of 1-2%. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  18. What is Refractive Surgery? For people who are nearsighted, certain refractive surgery techniques will reduce the curvature of a cornea that is too steep so that the eye's focusing power is lessened. Images that are focused in front of the retina, due to a longer eye or steep corneal curve, are pushed closer to or directly onto the retina following surgery. Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.

  19. Refractive surgery might be a good option if you: Want to decrease your dependence on glasses or contact lenses Are free of eye disease Accept the inherent risks and potential side effects of the procedure Understand that you could still need glasses or contacts after the procedure to achieve your best vision Have an appropriate refractive error Website: http://www.eyetech.in/ Phone: 0120 2497040, +91 9717269563 Email : info@eyetech.in Indraprasth eye tech F-19,First Floor, Above Corporation Bank,Ashirwad Complex, Sector 53,Noida-201301.
