  2. Making the Most of Masters • Opportunities for PGT students to undertake work based projects as an alternative to the traditional dissertation. • Funded by the Scottish Funding Council as part of the Learning to Work 2 initiative. • Project is a collaboration between:

What we do • Support • developing/maintaining employer links. • local and international WBPs. • networking events. • tailored to specific needs. • Resources • WBP manual. • WBP data management system. • Educational support. • Network of colleagues. • Advice • Employer engagement. • Assessment. • Evaluation. • Resourcing.

  4. Achievements • Greater understanding. • 575 projects agreed with industry. • With around 300 organisations. • With 82 programmes in MMM HEIs. • And research pool programmes.

  5. Benefits • Enhanced employability for students. • Real world projects. • Academic enhancement. • Quality enhancement of PGT programmes. • Enhanced links between universities and organisations.

  6. The Challenges… • Each project is different. • Organisations are different. • Perceived risks. • ‘Management’ of the experience. • Challenges traditional dissertation format. • Don’t know how performance is enhanced. …or Advantages?
