Primary Function/Typical use • Typically the ASUS Eee PC should be used as a secondary computing device! • Ideal for mobile computing, offering great flexibility. • Typically used for short bursts at a time. • Ideal for impromptu collaborative exercises . • Research on the move. • Maximising social networking opportunities for those potential uses who find the typical Graphical User Interface (GUI) intimidating (Linux)

Technical considerations • Solid state drive – no moving parts • Virtually shock proof • Virtually no noise • 10,000 write cycles (SD card) • Turn WIFI off to conserve battery live • Skype not installed on the MS version (beta4.0) • Antivirus and updates • Turned off by default • Linux version tied into inbuilt version • Microsoft version can be altered (not installed) • Installation of additional software Linux Vs Microsoft • Multiple browser tabs open may affect performance
