  1. The Fates: Modern Day Allusions By: Karyshma Khan

  2. The Tale of Despereaux • The Tale of Despereaux is about a mouse who falls in love with a human princess. • The other mice take him to the dungeon and tie a thread around his neck. When they get to the bottom of the dungeon, they cut off the excess thread and leave him. This symbolizes his fate and the death is supposedly around the corner.

  3. With A Tangled Skein • With a Tangled Skein is about a woman who becomes part of the incarnation of Fate called Clotho, who spins the threads of life. She later takes form of Atropos, another aspect of Fate.

  4. Macbeth: The Three Witches • Macbeth is a Shakespearean play about a Scottish general who becomes king of Scotland. When he hears a prophecy from three witches who tell him that he will become king, he commits murder to gain the throne. The witches are just like the Fates.

  5. The Fates: An Acoustic Trio • The Fates are a trio of singers obviously named after the Fates in Greek Mythology.

  6. Flora, Fauna, and Meryweather • In Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, three fairies help a king’s daughter escape from a curse. They are similar to the Fates because they’re a trio that guides people in a certain direction.
